In
2010 a small group of people investigated the names of those on the War
Memorial at Blackmore at researched those who had village connections but were
not included. One of the immediate
challenges was not only to investigate spelling variants of Blackmore but also
to differentiate between those who had fallen in Blackmore End, near
Wethersfield, also in Essex.
We
were supplied with information by Richard and Pam Wenley who held the
Wethersfield archives.

memorials were placed in both churches. In the 1980's the church at
Blackmore End was declared redundant and the memorial was moved to the outside
wall of the Village Hall. Both memorials contained the same names.
“I
am sending a photo of the memorial in Wethersfield Church, but as it may not be
too clear I have listed the names above.”
