The Essex Journal is a twice-yearly publication independent to the Essex Society for Archaeology and History. The Autumn 2012 edition has just been issued containing the following articles:
Unlocking Stebbing's Past 1200-1600 by Derek Towler
Upminster Windmill Heritage Site, by Paul Sainsbury
Colchester's MP and the honours scandal of 1895, by Rita Sharp
The Medieval Deeds of Colchester Hall, Takely, by Katherine Schofield
The Oates Family and Gestingthorpe, by Adrian Corder-Birch
Two articles mention the Society as sources for material. Derek Trowler mentions W R Powell's item in Series 30 Volume 30. Katherine Schofield introduces her topic by reference to its accession to the Essex Record Office, in 1939, and the article produced in the Transactions of the Essex Archaeological Society, 'new series' Volume 22 in 1940 (a copy of which is available from our Online Bookshop.)
