Greenstead and the Course of Edmund's Translation: Transactions n.s. Volume 10 Part 2

St Edmund's Day is commemorated on 20 November.  The saint is synonymous with the town in Suffolk - Bury St Edmunds - in the Diocese of St Edmundsbury. 'The Month', which is the Diocesan Newspaper of the Chelmsford Diocese, reports in its November 2012 edition that a five day pilgrimage is being planned from St Paul's Cathedral in London to Bury St Edmunds via Chelmsford and Greensted, one of the sites where St Edmund's body rested on his journey in 1013.  The pilgrimage is being held to mark the millennium.

In 1907 the Essex Archaeological Society published the following article in its 'Transactions' - a paper writen by I Chalkley Gould, F.S.A..
