SIR DAVID AMESS MP
Member of Parliament for Southend West
HOUSE OF COMMONS LONDON SW1A 0AA

Mr Adrian Corder Birch D.L
President Essex Society for Archaeology & History

24 October 2016

Dear Mr Corder Birch

Further to our recent correspondence dated 30th September 2016, please find enclosed the response I have received on 20th October 2016 from Gavin Barwell MP, Minister of State for Housing and Planning at the Department for Communities and Local Government about the historic environment.
He states that the concerns about the impact of Neighbourhood Planning and Infrastructure Bill curtailing the requirement of archaeological excavations in planning conditions is not the Government's intention.

I do hope you find this response helpful and it clarifies the concerns you have raised.

Yours sincerely,

Sir David Amess MP
