Dr Gilberd was born at Tymperleys, Colchester. He was physician to Queen Elizabeth I and discoverer of electro-magnetism. This item by J H Round was published in the Transactions of the Essex Archaeological Society in 1908. Tymperleys, near Holy Trinity Church, reopened as a tea shop in 2014.
