Essex Record Office Open Day: Saturday 14 September 2013

Essex Record Office, Wharf Road, Chelmsford
A day of celebration will be held this Saturday when the Essex Record Office, our county’s archive, marks its 75th anniversary.   The Essex Society for Archaeology and History will be there.  

“Join us on Saturday 14 September for an open day to help us celebrate 75 years of preserving the county’s past. The open day includes:
-          Behind-the-scenes tours
-          Archive films
-          Treasures of the ERO and local history displays
-          Talk from author and ‘Essexologist’ Pete May on The Joy of Essex: A County of Contrasts
-          Research helpdesk
-          Local history marketplace
-          Anniversary cake! (With a free slice of cake for the first 75 visitors to collect a cake ticket on arrival)
-          Sandwiches, snacks and hot and cold drinks will also be available to purchase
