Pleshey Castle First Interim Report, 1960
By Philip A Rahtz
“This report (35 pages) summarises the history of the
Castle and its previous exploration, and describes the first season of
excavation by the Essex Archaeological Society in 1959. Cuttings were made through the west end of
the Upper Bailey, which revealed foundations and occupation debris of the
twelfth to sixteenth centuries.”
