I wanted to let you know about an event that we have coming up at Eastbury Manor House on Thursday 10 July and to invite your members.

It is called Collecting Cultures: Made in Barking Dagenham where we will host a talk by historian Dr Ann Robey. She will be talking about the Collecting Cultures project which is an initiative set up by the Heritage Lottery Fund which supports museums, libraries and archives to develop their collections through strategic acquisition projects.

We have been collecting objects associated with Barking and Dagenham’s industrial past and focusing on the companies that once made Barking and Dagenham a hive of industry.

I have attached a facebook link to more information https://www.facebook.com/events/630181297058769/

I thought  this event would appeal to an audience such as yours who is interested in Essex’s history. The cost of the event is £5 and that’s with a glass of wine.

I would also like to add that if you need any help with a feature about Eastbury Manor House (one of the finest examples of a brick built Tudor gentry house in the country) and the Collecting Cultures talk, please let me know, I would be more than happy to help.

Best wishes
